Fabrizio Romano has revealed what Manchester United offered to Chido Obi-Martin to poach him from rivals Arsenal.

United have reportedly managed to convince highly rated youngster Obi-Martin to ditch the Gunners to move to Old Trafford.

The 16-year-old has attracted attention after showing extraordinary form for Arsenal's youth teams last season.

He scored 32 goals in just 18 matches for their U18s, including 10 in a single game against Liverpool – form which convinced United to pounce for the striker.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta reportedly held talks with Obi-Martin in an effort to convince him to remain in north London.

Arsenal reportedly offered him a salary of £15,000 per week, while the Daily Mail claim the Gunners indicated to the player that he would spend the majority of the season with the U18s and also represent the U21s at times.

However, Obi-Martin's camp are said to have wanted their player to be promoted straight into the U21s, with the 'deal-breaker' the amount of money offered by Arsenal.

The Metro claim that United are set to double the wages that Arsenal were willing to pay to the Danish youngster.

Meanwhile, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims the player has been offered potential first-team football at Old Trafford under Erik ten Hag.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: "This kind of deal is something INEOS, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and all the people in the club are planning to do for present and future, to sign top talents and get the opportunities for this kind of player.

"United were in a big battle to sign this player, because we have to be fair and say Arsenal made a very big proposal to Chido Obi-Martin... Mikel Arteta was also involved.

"But Chido is ready to go to United. Why? Because of the project. The project is obviously [Rasmus] Hojlund, [Joshua] Zirkzee, these are the two strikers. But behind them, Chido Obi-Martin will be considered the third striker currently at Manchester United.

"So this is the idea, to have a player who obviously can be for the academy, but also helpful for the first team when they will need.

"Pathway, this is what Manchester United have offered the player."

Romano later added that new United coach, former Red Devils striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, has been key to convincing Obi-Martin to join the club.

"Understand Ruud van Nistelrooy held direct talks with Chido Obi-Martin to present him Man United project for long term," Romano posted on X.

"Van Nistelrooy, crucial to get the green light from Chido as deal is done and set to be signed."
