Manchester United fans have been left fearing the worst after fresh footage emerged of Leny Yoro.

After injuries decimated his backline last season, high on Erik ten Hag's transfer wishlist was a new central defender.

United gave him exactly that, pulling off something of a coup by persuading Leny Yoro to make the move to Old Trafford rather than join Real Madrid.

United paid Lille £52 million for the 18-year-old Frenchman, who is regarded as one of the most talented young prospects in European football.

Unfortunately for United, the injury curse of last season appears to have afflicted their new signing.

Yoro impressed on his debut in a 2-0 friendly win against Rangers, before he and his new teammates flew to the United States for a pre-season tour.

He started United's 2-1 defeat to Arsenal, but had to be withdrawn shortly before half-time with an injury.

Ten Hag gave little away when asked about the issue post-match, admitting that it was "very disappointing" that the youngster had to be withdrawn.

United are yet to put a time-frame on Yoro's recovery, but there is a feeling that he could be sidelined for at least a month or two.

Those fears have now been compounded by fresh footage that emerged on Tuesday showing Yoro wearing a protective boot and using crutches as he boarded the United team bus.

Understandably, United fans were concerned.

"United can’t have anything nice man. I’m heartbroken," one fan wrote on X, while another commented "He will be back stronger, just like Mainoo," referencing the injury Kobbie Mainoo suffered in pre-season last year.

Another exasperated supporter asked: "How do our new signings keep getting injured in pre season? Makes it so much harder to settle into the club."

United are still pursuing Bayern Munich centre-back Matthijs de Ligt, and are reportedly close to signing his teammate left-back Noussair Mazraoui.
