Arsenal youngster Ethan Nwaneri is reportedly set to sign a record-breaking deal after rejecting an offer from Manchester City.

Back in September 2022, Nwaneri made history by becoming the youngest-ever Premier League player after he came on for Arsenal aged just 15 years and 181 days.

Nwaneri replaced Fabio Vieira in stoppage time during Mikel Arteta’s side’s 3-0 win over Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Now at the age of 16, it has been claimed that he is set to commit his future to Arsenal.

As reported by Football Insider, the youngster will sign a professional contract with the Gunners when he turns 17 later in the month.

Nwaneri has reportedly been given the highest-ever wages for an academy player in Arsenal’s history in what is a record-breaking deal.

The report also stated that City made a substantial offer to lure Nwaneri away from North London.

Nwaneri, who was born in 2007, has already made a number of appearances for Arsenal’s U-18 side when he was just 14.

He has also played for England at U-16 level.

Arsenal are currently basking in great form having scored more than 30 goals over their last seven matches.

On the back of their 6-0 win over Sheffield United on Monday night, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta said: “The players, the form they're in, they're confident, the chemistry, the determination that they are showing in every ball.

“They want more and they still believe that they can improve because we can improve in certain things and it's important that we maintain that.”

He added: "Without looking at the numbers it's probably the best that we've been but it has to be at the end of the season and we are focused on that…”

Arsenal are back in Premier League action this weekend when they take on Brentford on Saturday afternoon.
