Arsenal 'intensify' talks for Premier League star as Manchester United consider rival offer

Arsenal 'intensify' talks for Premier League star as Manchester United consider rival offer

They are said to be interested.

Arsenal have intensified talks with Everton's Amadou Onana, who has also attracted interest from Manchester United, it has been claimed.

Football Transfers reported on Monday that United boss Erik ten Hag wanted to sign Onana instead of Sofyan Amrabat in the summer, but didn't have the funds to complete the purchase at the time.

However, the publication added that money is available to bring one significant addition to Old Trafford in January and United may look to sign the 22-year-old in the coming weeks.

Ten Hag is said to be an admirer of the Belgian's versatility, given he can play anywhere across the backline as well as in defensive midfield.

The publication added that Everton have a long-standing interest in Scott McTominay, with the Scotland international a major transfer target for Sean Dyche.

There is allegedly the idea that a deal involving the two players could benefit all parties.

But, United could face stiff competition from Arsenal.

The Gunners have endured three defeats in succession, and in that time, surrendered top spot in the title race and been eliminated from the FA Cup.

In turn, the club are looking to add to their squad to reignite their title charge and gather momentum for the Champions League knock-out stages.

And Mikel Arteta is said to be keen on bringing in Onana, with the player also interested in a move.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri claimed on X, formally Twitter: "Talks intensive currently ongoing between #EvertonFC & #ArsenalFC for Amadou Onana.

"The Belgian midfielder’s - who has always put his priority to stay in Premier League - keen on the move. Things could develop quickly…"

The Gunners fly to Dubai on Tuesday for their winter break, which, as per the Mirror will serve as more of a holiday than a training camp.
