Arsenal fan wants Folarin Balogun sold asap after striker's Instagram story on the day of Man City clash

He wants him sold.

Some Arsenal fans want Folarin Balogun sold after his latest Instagram post.

The Gunners meet treble holders Manchester City at Wembley for the the season’s traditional curtain-raiser - the Community Shield.

Arsenal led the Premier League table for 248 days in 2022-23, the most of any team who failed to win the title in English top-flight history.

Mikel Arteta’s side have spent some £200million this summer on Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber, as they attempt to go one better this time out.

All three summer signings make their Arsenal debuts against City, with Havertz starting in attack upon an injury sustained to Gabriel Jesus last week.

Arteta did not opt to start either of Jesus’ natural understudies to lead the line, with Eddie Nketiah having been named on the bench and Folarin Balogun not even in the squad.

The latter, who netted 21 goals while on loan at Reims last term, has been linked with a move to Inter throughout the summer.

And the US International has angered a contingent of Arsenal fans for hinting at his desire to move to the Milan club on the day of the Community Shield.

First Balogun posted a video to his Instagram story of Inter and Brazil legend Ronaldo dribbling through a defence.

Then, on the same platform, the 22-year-old wished a happy birthday to Marcus Thuram, who made a move to Inter from Borussia Mönchengladbach this summer.

In response PaddyArsenal, a prominent Arsenal fan on Twitter, unleashed a furious tirade against Hale End graduate.

The Twitter user said: “Balogun’s current Instagram stories. Get that clown out of here.

“Look at how Saliba was down and out to what he has become now. Look at how hard Eddie worked to become a serious option. Balogun could’ve had a career here if he wanted but he clearly doesn’t.”

Upon receiving some push-back for the original tweets, PaddyArsenal added: “Didn’t think I’d have to spell this out to you morons but we’re not annoyed over a “happy birthday” message. Both stories are Inter Milan related, who are trying to sign him with pathetic offers.”
