It’s been heavily speculated for a number of years but it’s now official that Tottenham are the most ‘Spursy’ side in the Premier League era, according to new data conducted by Sky Bet to support fans in their use of new Sky Bet AccaFreeze.

Sky Bet’s AccaFreeze is the new way of betting where you can freeze one of your selections in an accumulator meaning if that selection goes on to drop points from a losing position, it will still count as a winning leg!

Ange Postecoglou may have enjoyed a good start to life in the Tottenham hotseat, but he still has a long way to go to shift the ‘Spursy’ tag away from the club.

In a large number of seasons Tottenham have promised a lot, be it in the league or cup competitions, but have often come a cropper and grasped defeat from the jaws of victory.

Even though they’ve started well in the Premier League, and are without European football at the new White Hart Lane, they have already been true advocates of the ‘Spursy’ label by being knocked out of the Carabao Cup in just the second round - before the likes of Man City, Arsenal, Newcastle and Man United have even entered the competition.

Since the inception of the league in 1992, they have taken the ‘Spursy’ tag to the ultimate level, having dropped a staggering 451 Premier League points when leading games, though they are closely followed by Everton (449) and Chelsea (446).

It’s not all bad for the North London side though, as they are the team who have gained the most points (427) from losing positions since the league started, narrowly seeing off Man United by a single point (426).

One statistic the Tottenham faithful and Postecoglou will be happy with is their record from coming behind this season, accruing seven points from losing positions this season, including last weekend’s 2-1 win over Sheffield United thanks to stoppage time goals from Richarlison and Dejan Kulsevski.

That achievement is only bettered by Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp who have picked up 9 points from losing positions so far this season.

If you are looking at who has been the ‘Spursiest’ side this season, that goes the way of Brentford who have lost six points when leading a game, including the two dropped on the opening game against Postecoglou’s charges.

All this data can be put to good use in Sky Bet’s new and exclusive ‘AccaFreeze’ feature, which enables customers to freeze a winning score of a 5+ leg accumulator to win the leg early.

For example, if West Ham who have lost five points from winning positions were to take the lead against comeback kings Liverpool this weekend, then that could be the perfect time to freeze that leg of your acca.
