Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has been voted as the Premier League’s greatest ever player after a survey was conducted, more than 1000 fans participated.

The survey was taken by YouGov for Betfair ahead of the 30th anniversary of the Premier League.

Henry came out on top after beating the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Alan Shearer and Eric Cantona. According to the findings, 15% of football fans said Henry is the competition’s best ever player.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Frenchman received votes from almost a quarter of fans living in the capital, London.

Henry is without doubt a major favourite amongst the Gunners fan base. During his two spells in north London, Henry made a total of 377 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring 228 times and became the highest ever goal scorer in Arsenal history. He was also part of the famous ‘Invincibles’ squad of the 03/04 season.

The forward got his hands on two Premier League titles, two FA Cups, two FA Community Shields and was runner up in the 2006 Champions League. He went on to play for Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona and MLS outfit New York Red Bulls before calling time on his career in 2014.

A stellar career that earned him tremendous plaudits, Henry is now the assistant manager of the Belgian national team.

In second place behind Henry is Manchester United great Cristiano Ronaldo, according to the survey, the five time Ballon d’Or winner received more backing from the 45-54 age group than any other player.

Ronaldo has been making headlines off the pitch this summer after demanding an exit from Old Trafford.

The 37-year-old expressed his desire to seek a move away last month as he would like to play in the Champions League, something he will not be able to do at United this season after their dismal 21/22 campaign resulted in qualification for the Europa League.

United however, are adamant that the Portuguese international is not for sale and is in the manager’s plans for the season.
