The Shocking Moment Referee Pulls Out Gun After Controversial Penalty Call

The Shocking Moment Referee Pulls Out Gun After Controversial Penalty Call

Over in Honduras, a referee pulled a pistol during an amateur game.

There was absolute madness in Honduras when a referee pulled out a GUN at the end of a game.

Footage of the shocking incident has circulated on social media and shows the official walking around the centre of the pitch with a pistol.

The amateur match in the western Honduran town of La Jigua had finished and according to local media reports, the referee had drawn the weapon to protect himself from supporters.

It's said many fans were incensed with the referee's refusal to award a penalty, with calling him "a son of a b****".

Reports claim the relative handed the man in the middle the gun and, in a quite extraordinary turn of events, he fired it at the ground to prove that it was loaded.

You don't see scenes like this too often in football but there was a gun brought onto the pitch by a club owner in 2018.

Ivan Savvidis, a Russian-Greek businessman who owns PAOK Salonika was absolutely furious over a last minute disallowed goal against AEK Athens in the Greek Superleague.

Savvidis stormed the pitch with his bodyguards and made the referee his target. He actually made his way onto the pitch on two occasions and it was in the second instance that he removed his jacket and revealed a gun in its holder.

Savvidis was hit with a three year ban and a fine of £87,000, while the club were docked three points, fined £55,000 and forced to play three home games behind closed doors for the events that occurred in the abandoned game.
