Real Sociedad forward Takefusa Kubo scored against former club Real Madrid in their La Liga clash on Tuesday night – and his celebration has got people talking.

The 21-year-old Japanese international, who signed for Madrid from FC Tokyo in 2019, made just four appearances for Los Blancos during a three-year stay that featured loan spells at Villarreal, Getafe and Mallorca.

Following his impressive loan spell at Mallorca last season, the highly-rated winger signed a five-year deal with Real Sociedad in the summer, with Madrid wisely keeping a 50 per cent ownership of his contractual rights.

Kubo has since played a key role for Imanol Alguacil's side this season, scoring eight goals in 39 appearances for the Txuriurdin.

On Tuesday night, the Japan international played a crucial role in their 2-0 win over former club Real Madrid, scoring the opener after some slack defending from the away side.

As you can see in the footage below, Eder Militao crumbled under Sociedad's high press with a poor pass to back pass to Thibaut Courtois, allowing Kubo to capitalise from close range.

After peeling away from the Belgian goalkeeper, it initially looked like Kubo would refrain from celebrating against his old side.

But the 21-year-old changed his mind and performed a knee-slide instead.

"Take Kubo with no celebration against his former side and then a change of heart," the ViaPlay Sports commentator said. "He slides along the ground just as he slid in to take the ball away from Courtois."

Here's how social media reacted to Kubo's celebration at the Reale Arena.

One said: "Love it how Kubo chose not to celebrate against his former club and changed his mind a second later," while another wrote: "It was a moment of silence for Real Madrid's league hopes."

A third added: "Kubo was like imma be respectful to my former club and then decided to knee slide and fist pump the crowd to celebrate."

When asked about the possibility of bringing Kubo back in his post-match press conference, Carlo Ancelotti was open to the idea.

"We are considering it, he is playing very well but we will talk about it in a few months, knowing that it is very complicated to find playing time in this squad."

Thoughts on the celebration? Let us know in the comments.
