He's not even playing at his best, well according to his gaffer, but Gareth Bale clocked a ridiculous speed as he scored a superb solo goal for Real Madrid over the weekend.

The Welshman has been jeered by his own fans, and even shouted at, though Bale showed the Real Madrid faithfuls what he's capable of doing as he returns to full fitness.

Bale scored Los Blancos' third goal which secured victory at Real Sociedad.

His effort perfectly captured his raw pace and demonstrates what a terrifying proposition he can be for any defence.

The 28-year-old latched onto a long ball played over the top. Despite the defender having a few yards on him, Bale accelerated past him before controlling the ball then finishing delicately.

While he showed off his finishing and control, it has his pace which caught everyone's attention.

Bale reached a top speed of 22 mph (35kph) as he left the defender in his dust.

In comparison, Olympic legend Usain Bolt recorded 28 mph in his world record setting 100 meters.

Bale covering 70-odd meters with that insane pace was the talk of social media:

Following the game, Zinedine Zidane was pleased with his performances: "He's not playing at his best but little by little we'll find the real Gareth," via BBC.

"He's had a great game and not just because of the goal. I'm happy he scored because he needed it. It wasn't easy, after running 70 metres, he finished very well and I am happy for him.

Zidane added: "I know he can do much better and we have to be patient. He is happy with his goal, it's a weight off of his shoulders. But he has also worked hard defensively."
