A female footballer has called for EA Sports to "deflate her boobs" on FIFA after being unhappy with her likeness on the game.

Born in Canada, Sydney Leroux has been capped 77 times for the USWNT, winning the World Cup and Gold at the the Olympics in 2016.

But she has hit headlines recently after expressing outrage over her appearance on FIFA.

Women have been involved in the game since 2016 and FIFA 23, the final iteration of the franchise in its current form, saw Chelsea starr Sam Karr become the first ever female cover star.

In addition, the Women's Super League, French Division 1 Feminine, Women's Champions League and National Women's Soccer League are all playable in this year's game.

Leroux, who plies her trade with Angel City FC and has represented the likes of Vancouver Whitecaps, Seattle Sounders and Orlando Pride, is a 81-rated striker.

But the 32-year-old has taken issue with how she looks on the popular football game, in particular her "chesty" animated character.

Leroux vented about Wales midfielder Jess Fishlock looking very different on the game and then made a series of points about how she looked.

On Twitter, she wrote: "They had the headband, the braid, the neck tattoo, the overly plucked brows and someone even made me CHESTYYYY!!!! Deflate my boobs a bit and put a different jersey on. I’ll keep the brows at this point."

Leroux kept going with the tweets and saw the funny side after a video of her celebration was posted, with the forward adding: "Please tell me I did not do an entire body scan for that…"

Leroux also changed her Twitter profile picture to a screenshot of her virtual self in the game, with the caption: "You are going to scare my children."

Weighing in with thoughts on many other female footballers not bearing any resemblance whatsoever, the ex Boston Breakers star finished by encouraging EA to do better.

She tweeted: "I know you expect women to just be thankful and grateful that you’ve given us a little sliver of publicity but please stop wasting our time. Some of us are bald."

EA and FIFA have ended 30 years of association and starting with the next release, the game will be known as 'EA Sports FC'

Exclusive licences with the Premier League and partnerships with brands like Nike will be retained.
