Steven Gerrard 'has been approached by a Saudi Arabian side' about becoming their next manager amid the influx of players moving to the Middle East.

Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al Nassr following the termination of his Manchester United contract, landing an eye-watering contract.

He appears to have set a trend, with his former Real Madrid teammate Karim Benzema signing for Al Ittihad, having agreed a monstrous three-year deal.

N'Golo Kante, Luka Modric and Sergio Ramos, among many others, have been strongly linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.

And it seems Saudi clubs also want high-profile managers, with stunning reports claiming Gerrard has been approached by Al Ettifaq.

The 43-year-old has been out of work since his dismissal at Aston Villa last October.

The report claims he has welcomed the offer and is taking time to consider it ahead of making a decision.

Gerrard began his coaching career at Liverpool's U18 and U19 teams before making his name as a manager at Rangers, where he enjoyed great success.

He helped the Gers to the Scottish Premiership title in the 2020/21 season.

After his managerial heroics in Scotland, Villa lured him back to England, but he failed to make a huge impression, losing 19 of his 40 matches in charge.

He was relieved of his duties last October, with Unai Emery replacing him at Villa Park.

But Gerrard reportedly has an offer on the table to return to management, with Al Ettifaq wanting the ex-England international as their next manager.

He's also been linked with the vacancies at Leeds United and Leicester City, who both suffered relegation from England's top flight.
