Thierry Henry says Chelsea star is already 'unhappy' after Graham Potter's decision

Thierry Henry says a Chelsea star is already unhappy after Graham Potter's decision during his first game in charge against RB Salzburg.

The Blues were held to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge in their first game under new head coach Potter.

His side took the lead through Raheem Sterling when he slotted home just after the break, but Noah Okafor levelled 15 minutes from time.

With the home side chasing a goal, Potter took Sterling off, replacing him with Christian Pulisic who failed to influence the game.

And his decision to drag off the England international baffled Henry, who claimed Sterling didn't look happy.

Speaking about Potter's substitution, the Arsenal legend told CBS Sports: "We all noticed and we were like, 'it’s early' and everything.

"First and foremost, I don’t know why he took Sterling off because he scored and you know he could score another goal.

"It’ll be interesting to see how he’s going to deal with that tomorrow morning because he [Sterling] didn’t look happy.

"Maybe we’re going a bit too much into it, but when they showed him on the bench, I think I wouldn’t have liked to come out after [scoring] a goal, let’s see how he’s going to deal with that one."

Potter deployed Sterling in a wing-role back and he was asked whether that was a risk.

"There is that possibility but obviously you have to organise around that and you don't really want Raheem defending his box too often and I don't think he did," he explained.

"Whatever you do, there's always a plus and a minus. We were at home, and we wanted to be on the front foot. We wanted to get some attacking ideas in those wide positions and Raheem was really good at attacking the back lines.

"He scored a fantastic goal and I thought he was really good in the game. [Right wing-back] Reece James balances off a little bit so we can still defend in a four if we need to. That was our thinking."
