Cristiano Ronaldo last night broke a La Liga record that would rightly give him his much vaunted by Barcelona fans. On the same night he also pulled out a piece of magic that makes him rightly considered one of the best two in the world.
Sunday was nearly the day when the race to be La Liga champions was blown wide open. Barcelona faced Atletico Madrid and, despite struggling for much of the match, the champions managed to come away with a 2-1 win. That result took them momentarily two points about Real Madrid.
Later in the night Real were struggling and after an hour of their match against Villarreal were 2-0 down. Gareth Bale pulled one back before Ronaldo broke a league record with his 57th penalty in Spain and Alvaro Morata stole the win for Los Blancos.

And of course as with many matches in which Real manage to dig themselves out of a hole Ronaldo was in the headlines. This time after scoring somewhat of a controversial penalty.
However what many missed was his beautiful touch late in the second half:

After the match when asked about the controversial penalty decision Real boss Zinedine Zidane said: "The [Madrid] players said it was a penalty," the Madrid boss added. I could not see it. And anyway I never get into talking about referees. He blew for it and that's it."
