Napoli have found their Khvicha Kvaratskhelia replacement as transfer nears and it's a genius bit of business

Antonio Conte revealed the player had asked to leave the Serie A outfit despite trying to "convince" him to stay.

Napoli have reportedly already identified Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s replacement as the Georgian nears an exit from the Serie A leaders.

Kvaratskhelia, 23, looks likely to leave the Italian outfit with Fabrizio Romano issuing an update on the player’s situation on Saturday afternoon.

“Paris Saint-Germain have agreed every term of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s contract for the next five years,” he wrote on X.

"The salary will be x4/5 his current one at Napoli. PSG are in negotiations with Napoli, as revealed here two days ago… …new meeting next week to get it done."

The likes of Manchester United and Liverpool were both tentatively linked with a potential move for the winger but PSG now looks likely to be his next club.

Napoli boss Antonio Conte even admitted that he tried to “convince” the player to remain at the club when speaking in a press conference.

“Kvaratskhelia has asked to leave the club,” he said.

“I spoke to Khvicha and he confirmed his plan to leave the club immediately”.

Conte also expressed how he is "disappointed".

“Personally I feel very disappointed, because I spent six months trying to make Kvara feel at the centre of the project, working with him, showing him that we could do something great and also working with the club for six months on the renewal," said Conte as reported by Football Italia.

“From my point of view, it’s a great disappointment.

“Today I have to take a step back. I can’t keep those who want to leave tied up in chains. I did that in the summer and had six months to convince all the parties to find a solution.

“I realise that the news has come out of the blue, but now I am taking a step back and it’s right that the club and Kvara’s entourage resolve the situation.

“And so, he is not available for Verona. We will see what happens. We will lose an important player, but for the meantime, let’s focus on Verona.”

But the club have reportedly already ‘identified’ Porto’s Galeno, 27, as a potential replacement for the departing Kvaratskhelia.

The Brazilian winger has impressed this season, having scored 12 goals as well as registering three assists in 26 appearances in all competitions.

Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, revealed that the club were to ‘evaluate’ the situation of Galeno.

The Porto winger is currently valued at €27m by Transfermarkt and his current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2028.

Arsenal fans may remember the Brazilian's wonder strike which handed Porto a last-gasp 1-0 Champions League round of 16 first-leg victory over the Gunners in February 2024.

It is unclear if Porto would be willing to sell the 27-year-old in the January transfer window.
