The showpiece, taking place in the winter for the first time ever, kicks off in Qatar in 82 days time. Already, the traditional World Cup sticker book has been released to get fans well and truly in the mood.

There are 670 stickers to collect, including 50 silver foil versions, and former Manchester City and Argentina star Aguero has already been splashing the cash in order to try and complete the book.

On his official TikTok, Aguero posted a video of him opening a pack and getting Messi, his friend and seven-time Ballon d'Or winner.

Aguero and Messi have been best pals since rooming together when playing for Argentina at youth level and City's record goalscorer was genuinely delighted to have got him.

He held the sticker to the camera and then kissed it in a wholesome moment. Each pack of stickers costs 90p and holds five stickers, with boxes holding 50 packs costing a whopping £45.

Aguero's former City colleague Phil Foden will almost definitely follow him in getting stuck into the sticker collection, as he is said to be "obsessed" with them.

Aguero, who has produced all sorts of gold on his Twitch streams, recently sent a warming to compatriot and former teammate Nicolas Otamendi about Messi.

Otamendi now plies his trade with Benfica, who have been paired in the same group as Messi's Paris Saint-Germain.

And with the World Cup around the corner, he has told Otamendi to think twice about hurting Messi or else he will "kill" him.

"PSG, Juventus, Benfica... Otamendi is going to have to put in a couple of kicks," the retired striker said on a stream.

"Otamendi is at Benfica, so he's going to have to start hitting and he's going to cross it with Leo.

"Don't hurt Leo, because I'll kill you. The World Cup is coming, Ota."
