Roberto Firmino could leave Liverpool this summer if an adequate offer arrives for the Brazilian.

The 30-year-old endured a difficult end to the 2021/22 season, and only started 10 games across the Premier League campaign.

As such, with his contract expiring next summer, Liverpool are considering moving him on in the coming weeks.

However, despite interest from Juventus, Liverpool won’t entertain offers of a swap deal involving Adrien Rabiot according to The Mirror.

The news will arrive as something of an emotional blow to Reds fans as Jürgen Klopp’s famous front three continues to be dispersed.

Sadio Mané of course recently completed his £35.1 million move to Bayern, signalling the end of an era at Anfield.

Operating as a fearsome front three, Salah, Firmino, and Mané played a crucial role in bringing back the glory days to Liverpool and delivering the club’s first Premier League title.

Firmino has always been viewed as the unsung player within the trio, tying things together and enabling Mané and Salah to score for fun.

But his own record is nothing to be scoffed at, hitting double figures for goal contributions every season since his 2015 move to England.

Nonetheless, with a shift in style of play and his own personal decline in performance, Firmino finds himself as more of a squad option.

The centre-forward at Liverpool is now much more of an out and out attacker rather than a false 9, hence the acquisition of Darwin Nuñez from Benfica.

Firmino isn’t a like for like replacement for the Uruguayan should the 23-year-old be unavailable at times this season, and thus Firmino’s sale could facilitate a move for a forward better suited to the role of Nuñez’s understudy.

Despite Liverpool’s lack of interest in a swap deal involving Adrien Rabiot, Juventus remain favourites to capture his signature. They’re looking to sign Firmino on a cut-price deal amid his current contract situation.

Just as they did with Sadio Mané, Liverpool fans will say goodbye to Roberto Firmino with a heavy heart should he leave Merseyside this summer. A proper Kop legend.
