Harry Kane's last gasp goal for England last night kicked off scenes of utter joy up and down the country but it wasn't just the English paying attention to the goal but it seems the Germans were very interested too.
Excitement and belief went from through the roof, to nearly gone to full on 'just hand us the World Cup' in the space of 94 of the most intriguing moments of an England game in recent memory on Monday night.
First England were excellent and all the quiet optimism around the country was proving to have been right, then there was a Tunisia penalty and two turned down for England and suddenly the dread of 'same old England' set in and finally Kane's brilliant winner, limbs.
Kane of course had opened the scoring after just 11 minutes from a corner because he wasn't taking them and the Spurs man led the line well for Gareth Southgate's side.

Interestingly even the Germans are impressed with Kane with German newspaper Bild leading with 'We wish we had Kane!' as their headline today.
And the paper went on to be full of praise for Southgate's team saying, "There's something different about England at this World Cup. They played like Germany should play, fast and direct.
"It may be very early in the tournament, but that is how world champions win games."
Another newspaper, Sueddeutsche Zeitung, added, "Even if they aren't good enough to win the title this year, in two years time, when they have a bit more experience and a few more young talents have come up, England will be ready to win the European Championships."

I know that England have always hated Germany far more than the Germans have hated the English but this still isn't how rivalries are supposed to work.
Of course Joachim Low's side started the defence of the World Cup with a shock 1-0 loss to Mexico and find themselves in a difficult position to qualify because of it.
The central Americans kept hitting them on the break and they had no poacher like Kane to give them enough going forward.

But seriously, since when are the Germans jealous of our footballing prowess? The last time was probably 1966.
