'It's a disgrace' - Rio Ferdinand shocked as he realises Phil Foden news

Rio Ferdinand was baffled by hearing the development about Manchester City and England star Phil Foden.

Rio Ferdinand has revealed his shock after realising Phil Foden is not far off equalling him.

Earlier this week the Manchester United legend was inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame class of 2023 alongside fellow greats Tony Adams and Petr Cech.

Legendary managers Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger have also been commemorated for their achievements, becoming the first two coaches in the Hall of Fame.

Ferdinand reacted to his induction on his FIVE YouTube channel in a video published on Thursday and discussed his uber successful career.

But he also made some predictions as to why he will be joining him in the Hall of Fame, picking Manchester City's dynamic duo of Kevin De Bruyne and 51-goal sensation Erling Haaland - the latter just after one record-breaking season in England.

“Kevin De Bruyne is the first name everyone is mentioning," Ferdinand said.

“ Arsene Wenger mentioned him last night when he was asked [about current players joining the Hall of Fame] and I agree. I think Mohamed Salah will end up in there. Erling Haaland … He can go in there after just one season! Haaland could jump in there right now and be comfortable."

Then City and England star Foden got a mention from Ferdinand, who was utterly staggered about his trophy haul and called it "an absolute disgrace" in the nicest possible way.

He continued: "Who’s a young player who I think will end up in there? Phil Foden. Did you know that Foden, potentially at the end of this season, if Man City win the Premier League… he will have five titles. He’s 23 years old! It’s a disgrace, an absolute disgrace.”

Foden made his City debut in the Champions League as a 17-year-old against Shakhtar Donetsk in 2017 and went on to become the youngest player to win the Premier League when he made his fifth and final domestic appearance on the final day against Southampton in the 'Centurions' campaign.

He scored a crucial winning goal against Spurs in the 2018/19 campaign for his second medal.

And after City lost out to Liverpool the following season, Foden's contribution to the success of Pep Guardiola's side has continued and he was instrumental in the back-to-back titles - collecting the PFA Young Player of the Year award in consecutive seasons.

City are fighting for a record-equalling third straight title, while Foden will be level with Wayne Rooney and John Terry, as well as former teammates Fernandinho and Sergio Aguero, on five Premier Leagues, if they see off Arsenal.

Ferdinand lifted six Premier League titles but you wouldn't bet against Foden, who turns 23 on the final day of the season, surpassing his tally.
