Real Betis fans throw toys onto pitch as donation for children in need over Christmas

Real Betis fans threw thousands of toys onto the pitch as a donation to disadvantaged families at Christmas.

Betis resumed their La Liga campaign following the World Cup with a home match against Athletic Bilbao on Thursday.

They dedicate a fixture in December to help families at Christmas by donating toys during one of their games.

And the Spanish club continued their brilliant tradition in last night's league clash against Bilbao, creating incredible scenes at the Benito Villamarín Stadium.

The club shared a video online, showing thousands of fans taking part in the touching gesture.

The clip shows toys being thrown onto the pitch and into the lower stand.

On social media, Betis wrote: "Again this year, SPECTACULAR.

"Again this year, THANK YOU SO MUCH for helping us bring toys to children in need."

Needless to say, Betis' wonderful act of kindness got fans online talking.

One Twitter user wrote: "Real Betis' annual Teddy bear donation - one of the finest sights in (Spanish) football."

A second tweeted: "Well done guys!!! Superb work as usual! Kudos to those amazing fans as well!!"

A Newcastle United fan commented: "Newcastle United should do the exact same thing it’s a fantastic idea and will make a lot of kids very happy just saying."

A fourth said: "For once, something I think other clubs could copy."

A West Ham supporter added: "That's the best thing that I have seen on here for a while, we should adopt this over here."

Betis have been doing this for years and it appears fans in the Premier League want to do something similar for disadvantaged families in England.

We're fully on board with replicating the scenes at Betis in grounds up and across England next year.
