If it was ever in any doubt, these week's results prove why football is the greatest thing on earth.

The Premier League title-race is heating-up, the Copa del Rey is reaching crunch-point, the scramble for top-four is growing more hectic and the Coppa Italia is throwing together some heated fixtures.

Us football fans have been blessed this week with some top-notch displays and some seriously surprising results.

And if you've been living under a rock since Monday, here's a run-down of what went down in world football.

On Monday, league champions and Liverpool chasing Manchester City travelled to Newcastle for a crucial away match. Banana skin? Pep's men slipped-up, even after opening the scoring in the first 30 seconds. 2-1 Newcastle.

But last night Liverpool failed to capitalise, kind of. They drew 1-1 after a resilient display from Leicester City, despite some half-time shithousery.

In the battle for top-four, Solskjaer's Manchester United outfit went full-Fergie and saved a point thanks to two very, very late goals.

Two points dropped at Old Trafford, but no points gained by Chelsea. Bournemouth hammered them 4-0 at the Vitality Stadium last night. Not the best introduction to the Premier League. Sorry, Gonzalo.

Over in continental Europe, Barcelona faced an early exit from the Copa del Rey after losing their first-leg 2-0 away at Sevilla.

Lionel Messi was left out of the opening fixture - and guess what? He was back for the next one. Barcelona won 6-1, of course they did.

In Italy, the Coppa Italia semi-finalists were pencilled-in - and there were some huge shocks.

On Tuesday, five-time cup champions Napoli crashed-out at the hands of AC Milan. That wasn't the biggest surprise, though.

Italian giants Juventus were embarrassed 3-0 against mid-table outfit Atlanta. They may have the league basically wrapped-up already, but Cristiano Ronaldo and co. won't be lifting the Coppa Italia this year.

And that's not even it. Roma took 'hold my beer' to a new level when they were destroyed 7-1 at Fiorentina. Oh, and Edin Dzeko was sent-off for spitting in the referee's face... twice.

That's just three-days of football and it's only Thursday. I need a lie-down.

What do you think is this week's craziest result?
