England Fans Are Furious With Roy Hodgson For Axing Danny Drinkwater

Barely two seconds after the England squad for Euro 2016 been announced, social media was flooded with reactions to the news that Leicester City's Danny Drinkwater had lost his place in Roy Hodgson's squad, despite enjoying his best ever season in the Premier League, while Jack Wilshere, with only 142 minutes of action under his belt this season, is booked on the plane to France for next month.
Drinkwater, a Premier League winner, has earned a ton of plaudits for his tremendous displays for the Foxes during a historic season. The likes of Wilshere and Jordan Henderson, who has also been named in the 23 man squad, however, have spent most of the season injured or in poor form. And while the outrage on Twitter isn't going to change the England manager's mind, it shows the high regard Drinkwater is now held in following a glorious season and proves that fans of the Three Lions want players chosen on form, rather than reputation.
The decision to take an injury prone Daniel Sturridge has also raised alarm bells with fans, who believe putting so much faith in so many players with fitness issues is too big of a risk:
Really feel for Danny Drinkwater. He couldn't have done more to be on that plane. I'd love to see an England team picked on form not fame...

I can't wait for Roy to explain decision not to take drinkwater ! #disgrace

Match fitness of Wilshere, Henderson & Sturridge is a concern. 1? yes. 2? Maybe. All 3? Hmm! History tells us such gambles invariably fail.

You've got to feel for Drinkwater, seems like a 'well done, you've been excellent, But....' Moment

If city won the league and Drinkwater had made 35 app's for them in midfield he'd have been the first name on the sheet

Think Drinkwater needed to not play all season, just be pictured smoking a cig on occasion. Rather than be a champion and assist Vardy goals

Fitness concerns over Henderson and Wilshere.

Cuts Danny Drinkwater and takes five strikers.#EURO2016 pic.twitter.com/29vl8kqBOc
How the hell jack Wilshire gets nod ahead of Drinkwater. He hasn't played the season properly. Roy has gone nuts

Not taking Drinkwater leaves us with less cover than a mid 2000 Jodie Marsh. Come on Woy.
- Tommy Dickfingers (@willdtrow) May 31, 2016
Wilshire hasn't completed a league game for Arsenal since September 2014. Drinkwater quality all season for Leicester. Work that one out...

A title winning English midfielder at a so called big club would be straight into Euro squad. Drinkwater omission pathetically predictable

Pick players in form and fitness, says Roy. Keep Wilshere, Henderson and Barkley. Drop Drinkwater, player who knows Vardy best. Oh, right.
- John Brewin (@JohnBrewinESPN) May 31, 2016
Based on form/fitness, Henderson, Wilshere, Barkley,Sturridge may all consider themselves fortunate. In-form Drinkwater & Townsend v unlucky
