England Fans Are Furious With Roy Hodgson For Axing Danny Drinkwater

The England manager is coming in for a lot of stick

Barely two seconds after the England squad for Euro 2016 been announced, social media was flooded with reactions to the news that Leicester City's Danny Drinkwater had lost his place in Roy Hodgson's squad, despite enjoying his best ever season in the Premier League, while Jack Wilshere, with only 142 minutes of action under his belt this season, is booked on the plane to France for next month.

Drinkwater, a Premier League winner, has earned a ton of plaudits for his tremendous displays for the Foxes during a historic season. The likes of Wilshere and Jordan Henderson, who has also been named in the 23 man squad, however, have spent most of the season injured or in poor form. And while the outrage on Twitter isn't going to change the England manager's mind, it shows the high regard Drinkwater is now held in following a glorious season and proves that fans of the Three Lions want players chosen on form, rather than reputation.

The decision to take an injury prone Daniel Sturridge has also raised alarm bells with fans, who believe putting so much faith in so many players with fitness issues is too big of a risk:
