Ranking the top 10 weirdest stadium names in world football

Taking a look at some of the wackiest and weirdest stadium names in football from all across the world.

There are a number of oddly named football stadiums out there and they're all worth a look. So let's take a look at the top 10 weirdest stadium names in football.

10) The Dripping Pan, Lewes, England

This strangely named stadium has been home to Lewes F.C. since their foundation in 1885. There are multiple rumours about the name of the stadium and what it comes from but none that are definitive. One of these rumours is that the name came from a medieval salt pan that linked to the nearby priory where there was also a cricket club.

9) Cashpoint Arena, Altach, Austria

Built in 1990 and home to SC Rheindorf, this is definitely an unusual stadium name. You would hope at least that there is an ATM machine somewhere on the premises of this multi-sports stadium.

8) Bargain Booze Stadium, Northwich, England

Home to both Northwich Victoria and the Runcorn Linnets, this stadium has acually changed its name to Wincham Park, but it was simply too good to leave out. With a name like this the stadium probably attracted fans from across the country.

7) Middlefart Stadium, Middlefart, Denmark

I can't tell what's funnier, this stadium name, or the fact that it is just named after where it is in Denmark!

6) Spotify Camp Nou

A much more recent addition to the list here. Spotify recently invested a lot of money into Barcelona and were able to rename the world-famous stadium. What a crossover!

5) Hunky Dorys Park, Drogheda, Ireland

The footballing home of Drogheda United has also since changed its name to 'Head in the Game Park' but a stadium named after a brand of crisps has to be in the list. I'm sure you could say that Drogheda United's recent form has left a lot of their fanbase salty...

4) KitKat Crescent, York, England

What is known as a quintessentially British chocolate bar and therefore thoroughly deserved to be the name of the ground that hosts York City from 2005 and 2010 before it was renamed to a more sensible name, Bootham Crescent.

3) Pizza Hut Park, Texas, USA

The Americans are ahead of the game when it comes to brands taking the names of their stadiums and this gem is no exception. This is even more evident in the fact that the stadium has now been renamed to Toyota Park! Pizza Hut Park was the home of FC Dallas.

2) Tony Macaroni Arena, Livingston, England

Need I say more?

1) Mitsubishi Forklift Stadium, Almere, Netherlands

This stadium name has to go down in history as one of the greats. While the name has now changed this is a legendary level of advertising from Mitsubishi. I feel like it is necessary for a forklift statue to be built outside this stadium!
