PSG fans have turned on Lionel Messi after video goes viral from Bayern Munich game

PSG lost to Bayern Munich in the Champions League round of 16

Paris Saint Germain fans have started to turn on Lionel Messi after a video from the Bayern Munich clash went viral.

On Tuesday, PSG were hoping to gain an advantage in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 clash against Bayern.

However, the German Bundesliga champions came out on top at the Parc des Princes after a 53rd-minute Kingsley Coman goal sealed a 1-0 victory for the Bavarian club.

In the closing stages, Kylian Mbappe had a goal ruled out for offside by VAR whilst Bayern defender Benjamin Pavard was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.

Unsurprisingly, PSG fans were not happy with their team’s performance as they expected them to go deep in this season’s competition.

Messi has now become the subject of criticism after a video surface during the aftermath of the game.

The video captured Neymar pressing from the front with the score at 0-0.

However, the Brazil star was pressing on his own whilst Messi was seen just strolling around the pitch, leaving some fans frustrated.

One fan said: “Messi no where to be found. Much respect for Neymar who actually cares can’t even blame him fr.”

Another tweeted: “This alone made Neymar my man of the match.”

A third fan added: “Messi's job in football is done he is just playing it for vibes now.”

During his post-match interview, PSG boss Christophe Galtier bemoaned the lack of depth within his squad, he said: “From the start, we didn’t have depth in our game. Bayern automatically advanced enormously on us.

“We had trouble getting the ball out of the back and holding it very high. We were obviously cornered. I suspected that by playing that way and without the depth we needed in these matches.

“Obviously there is a disappointment but we all knew that there would be no qualification or elimination tonight.

“We will see in three weeks what state our squad will be in, if we will have recovered freshness and the players we are missing to play a full match at the level of the last half hour played this evening.”

PSG will be back in Ligue 1 action this weekend as they take on Lille on Sunday.
