Kylian Mbappe scores sensational solo goal on PSG return after injury layoff

Kylian Mbappe in back for Paris Saint Germain

Kylian Mbappe has scored a sensational solo goal on his return to the Paris Saint Germain starting XI after a short injury layoff.

The Ligue 1 leaders were back in action as they took on Lille at the Parc des Princes on Sunday afternoon.

Mbappe missed PSG’s league matches against Toulouse and Monaco with a hamstring injury and was on the bench for their Champions League round of 16 defeat by Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

After a poor run of three defeats on the bounce, PSG boss Christophe Galtier decided to put Mbappe straight back into his starting XI as they look to get back on track.

Galtier’s decision paid off massively as it took Mbappe a mere 11 minutes to delight the home crowd with a stunning goal.

After getting onto the end of a beautiful through ball by Neymar, Mbappe took the ball and produced a mesmerising piece of skill to get away from Lille defenders Bafode Diakite and Tiago Djalo before slotting cooly into the back of Lucas Chevalier’s net. You can watch the goal below.

Fans were quick to react to Mbappe’s brilliant goal.

One fan said: “People think he's just about speed. He's not.”

Another tweeted: “Best player in the world at the moment.”

A third fan added: “That is an unbelievable goal in such a tight space.”

Someone else wrote: “The way mbappe makes splitting two defenders looks so easy is crazy, what a goal.”

Whilst a fifth commented: “Mbappe what a goal..The best player on the planet.”

Six minutes later, Neymar went from provider to scorer as he tapped home a clever pullback by Portuguese midfielder Vitinha to make it 2-0 to the Paris club.

Lille did manage to get back into the game in the 24th minute thanks to a goal by defender Diakite.

Should PSG hang on to the victory, they will put eight points between themselves and second-place side Marseille, who will take on Toulouse on Sunday night.
