Manchester United and Arsenal target Viktor Gyokeres has got people talking after he spoke about his future during a FaceTime call with former Brighton, St. Pauli and Coventry teammate Leo Østigård.

The 26-year-old striker, who played an instrumental role for Sporting last season as they lifted their second consecutive Primeira Liga title, has no shortage of suitors after notching 54 goals and 13 assists in 2024-25.

A reunion with Ruben Amorim has been rumoured for some time, with Manchester United on the lookout for a prolific centre-forward following an abysmal campaign in front of goal.

Arsenal are also said to be interested. Last month, Portuguese outlet A Bola claimed the Gunners were the “best-placed club” to sign Gyokeres after he was asked "if he likes London" during a post-match interview.

On that occasion, Gyokeres ignored the question, instead revealing his admiration for Lisbon.

But in a recent FaceTime call with former teammate Leo Østigård, the Sweden international made an interesting comment about his future as he appeared on the Flymodus podcast.

As you can see from the footage below, podcast host Bernt Hulsker starts the conversation by asking: "Where are you going in the summer transfer window? Can you give us a hint? Is it Arsenal? What are the alternatives?"

A clearly amused Gyokeres played down the comments, saying they will have to wait and see. "Nobody knows anything yet," he added. "I wish I had a more fun answer, but that's all I can say for now."

A few minutes later, former teammate Østigård delivered his goodbye message. "Viktor, great talking to you," he said. "See you soon, and text me when everything is signed and sorted down in Arsenal."

Gyokeres then replied: "Yeah, yeah. Sure!"

X account afcstuff posted the conversation on Monday afternoon, and it received a mixed reaction from fans. Some were convinced it was merely a tongue-in-cheek response that ultimately meant nothing, while others disagreed.

One said: "It seems to me that they are just friends joking around, and Victor didn't deny anything, but he didn't say anything to get our hopes up either. We'll see."

A second wrote: "It might be happening," and a third commented: "Did Gyokeres just hint to his teammate about Arsenal?"

A fourth said: "He's just saying, 'yeah, yeah sure' to let them know when he finally makes his mind up, imo. Nothing in that for me," and a fifth added: 'Bro already signed in his mind."

Thoughts on Gyokeres' future? Is he the right man for Arsenal, or should he join Manchester United this summer? Let us know in the comments.
