Rio Ferdinand has named the one team that he believes will challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title this season.

City drew 1-1 with Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon, with Trent Alexander-Arnold cancelling out Erling Haaland's first half goal for the hosts.

It was a major result for both teams, as City would have moved to four points clear of Liverpool with a victory.

As it ended up, however, it was Arsenal that reached the summit of the Premier League after their 1-0 win over Brentford on Saturday evening.

Kai Havertz scored the winning goal for the Gunners in a result that saw them leapfrog both City and Liverpool.

They become the fourth team to lead the division in a matter of weeks, with the Reds and Tottenham also sitting on top at some stage in recent times this term.

Having watched both Liverpool and Arsenal on Saturday, Manchester United legend Ferdinand gave his verdict on which club he believes will have the best chance of stopping City from sealing their fourth consecutive Premier League crown.

Speaking on TNT Sports, he explained: "The two centre-backs are the reason why I would put Arsenal ahead of Liverpool in the title race to challenge Man City.

"I think those two, they're bang in-form. You can trust them implicitly, and they look like that partnership is going to grow with the way they're playing at the moment.

"They don't mind coming to places like this and having to fight. That's the big difference as well.

"There's some players that, when it's good and going well, they look good. But these guys don't mind rolling up their sleeves and doing the ugly stuff, which is a real testament to them as a partnership."

Can Arsenal win the Premier League this season? Let us know in the comments.
