Premier League Player Named As Club Issues Statement On Gun Threat

The Premier League player has been named, with his agent arrested following an alleged late night confrontation.

The Premier League player who was allegedly threatened with a gun by a football agent has now been named.

Over the weekend, it was reported that an unnamed player in his 20s was confronted by an agent while accompanied by a family member and walking on a street in London.

Police were called at 11:14 pm on September 6 and the 31-year-old agent in question was later arrested at his Hertfordshire home and bailed days after the incident, with police issuing a statement confirming that no injuries had been sustained.

The statement from Met Police read: “Police were called at 23:14hrs on Saturday, 6 September, to reports a man in his 20s had been threatened with a firearm on Cockfosters Parade, Barnet.

“Officers spoke to the victim and during the course of their investigation, it was also a reported another man in his 20s had also allegedly been blackmailed and threatened by the same individual. No injuries were reported in either incident.

“A 31-year-old man was arrested on Monday, 8 September, on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent, blackmail and driving without a license. He has been bailed while enquiries continue.”

No charge has been brought to the agent for any of the three offences at the time of writing as enquiries continue but as part of his bail conditions, he is not allowed to contact the player or visit the training ground of his club, it has been claimed.

On Tuesday, as per the BBC, it was confirmed by Tottenham Hotspur that their defender Destiny Udogie was caught up in the frightening experience and is being supported in every sense.

The club issued a statement, which read: "We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment any further."

The agent, whose clientele list has included international footballers and an England player, is said to have been furious that Udogie was no longer using his services, according to The Telegraph.

Udogie, an Italy international, signed for Spurs from Udinese for a fee of £15 million in 2022 but spent the first year back on loan in Serie A.

He has since gone on to make 76 appearances for the club, with his latest outing coming in the 4-0 win over FC Copenhagen in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

As per The Sun, a bail variation was agreed by a judge at a magistrates’ court in October, allowing the agent to use his passport and travel abroad for trips which had already been booked.

However, he must hand his passport over to police when he returns to the UK in December.
