A Premier League star was reportedly threatened with a gun on a London street.

The player, who is in his 20s and has a market value of around £60 million, was walking with his friend late at night when the incident supposedly occurred.

It is unclear exactly who the player is, with The Sun reporting that a football agent has since been arrested after police were called at 11:14 pm on September 6.

The outlet reports that the agent, who works with clients including England internationals, was detained on suspicion of brandishing a firearm with intent to cause fear and violence – although he has not yet been charged with an offence.

The player and his friends both escaped unharmed, with police reportedly arriving at the agent’s home two days after the incident.

The suspect was given bail on September 9 with the condition that he did not contact the footballer, according to The Sun’s report.

SPORTbible contacted the Metropolitan Police for comment, with the force issuing the below statement.

“Police were called at 23:14hrs on Saturday, 6 September, to reports a man in his 20s had been threatened with a firearm on Cockfosters Parade, Barnet.

“Officers spoke to the victim and during the course of their investigation, it was also a reported another man in his 20s had also allegedly been blackmailed and threatened by the same individual. No injuries were reported in either incident.

“A 31-year-old man was arrested on Monday, 8 September, on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent, blackmail and driving without a license. He has been bailed while enquiries continue.”

Meanwhile, The Sun claimed that the player is being supported by his club, family and friends, while it is understood that the suspect requested his passport back to leave the UK after it was originally judged that officers imposed a ban on him going abroad until a bail variation was agreed upon by a judge at a magistrates’ court in October.

The suspect must return his passport to the police when he returns in December and is banned from travelling to the player’s club’s training ground.
