Middlesbrough have taken unprecedented action after strong speculation linking their manager Rob Edwards with the Wolves vacancy.
Boro, currently third in the Championship with 26 points from 14 games, host Birmingham City at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
However the Teeside outfit have been plagued by chaos ahead of the fixture relating to Edwards' links to former club Wolves after the struggling Midlands outfit sacked Vitor Pereira following a dismal run.
Edwards has emerged as the leading contender to take the reins at Molineux despite conversations with former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag and ex boss Gary O'Neil, who is believed to have rejected a return.

Middlesbrough rejected an approach from Wolves for Edwards, who is said to have a release clause in his deal.

However, the situation has had an impact on Boro's preparation for their 3pm kick-off with Birmingham as Edwards did not take charge of training on Friday, nor did he do his pre-match press conference.
And now, as per talkSPORT, Edwards has been removed from the dugout for the game, with alternative coaching staff expected to take the team.
The 42-year-old had been planning to manage the team as normal despite the recent developments.
Edwards only took the reins at Middlesbrough in the summer, months after he left Luton Town.
The former Wales international's stock as a coach increased massively after he led Luton to promotion to the Premier League in 2023 following victory in the Championship play-offs.

Despite a number of spirited performances, Luton suffered instant relegation and after struggling back in the second tier, he left via mutual consent in January.
Edwards won the Championship Manager of the Month for August after winning his first four games of the season with Middlesbrough.
The report claims that Middlesbrough believe Edwards is likely to join Wolves, where he played more than 100 times in his playing career.
He later returned for a stint as the club's Under 23 coach.
Wolves are the only winless in the top four leagues in English football and find themselves at he bottom of the Premier League with just two points from 10 games.
