Mark Goldbridge has named the three 'best' players in the Premier League after Jamie Carragher's bold Cole Palmer claim.

Palmer starred as Chelsea came from behind to beat London rivals Tottenham 4-3 on Sunday.

He converted two penalties including an outrageous Panenka and dropped the coldest response when asked why he opted to chip Fraser Forster from the spot.

After the result, Carragher heaped special praise on Palmer, claiming there hasn't been a player in the Premier League who has performed better than him in the last 18 months.

On Sky Sports, he said: "He gets the penalty and he's involved in the [Enzo] Fernandez goal as well, there's three or four players around him. That's what great players do - you fear when he's on the ball.

"I loved him last season and he's started this season really well.

"I think I made a comment a few weeks ago that if you look at his last 18 months at Chelsea, I don't think there's been a player in the Premier League who's performed better than him.

"And he hasn't been playing for the best team. I mean they look like one of the best teams in the league right now."

People online took exception to Carragher's shout as a Liverpool fan account told him to 'be serious', prompting an angry response.

Manchester United fan Goldbridge also weighed in on the Liverpool legend's Palmer claim.

While he acknowledged the 'exceptional talent', he referenced Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk as well as Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka as the best players in the league.

On X, Goldbridge wrote: "Cole Palmer is an exceptional talent but wouldn't even say he was Chelsea's MOTM yesterday. Not sure why he's being called the best player in the league. Salah, Van Dijk and Saka off playing golf again?"

The England international has excelled since signing for Chelsea from Manchester City in the summer of 2023.

He enjoyed a sensational debut campaign at Stamford Bridge, scoring 25 goals across all competitions.

And he's carried on where he left off, already bagging 11 goals this season.
