More than 100,000 people have transferred Manchester City midfielder Rodri into their Fantasy Premier League team after his impressive Gameweek 1 performance.

The 27-year-old, who was pivotal throughout last season's treble-winning campaign, scored 13 points on Friday night as Pep Guardiola's rallied to a convincing 3-0 win against Burnley.

Erling Haaland opened the scoring for reigning Premier League champions City after Rodri's cushioned a perfectly-weighted header into his path.

And with the Cityzens leading 2-0 thanks to another Haaland goal, the Spanish midfielder put the game to bed with 75 minutes played, when he smashed home from close range.

Erling Haaland, who was captained by a record 73 per cent of Fantasy Premier League managers ahead of Gameweek 1, bagged 13 points after notching two goals and the maximum three bonus points.

Rodri also recorded an impressive 13 points, but only a select few included the midfielder in their team.

That being said, just over 105,000 managers [at the time of writing] have spent a very reasonable £5.5 million on the Spain international following his performance against Vincent Kompany's side.

On the subject of transfers, a total of 114,000 players have bought Newcastle forward Alexander Isak, who bagged a brace against Aston Villa on Saturday, while 101,000 handed Bukayo Saka a place in their squad.

The Arsenal winger picked up 10 points at the weekend thanks to his goal and bonus points in their 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest.

Another popular pick in FPL has been Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, who says he will captain himself for every single Gameweek during the Fantasy Premier League season

Speaking to the Premier League ahead of their clash against Chelsea on Sunday, the Egyptian forward wasn't exactly thrilled with his £12.5 million price tag.

"Again? It's too expensive for people to buy me," he smiled. "But I know I get some of the most points every season so it's fine."

When asked who will get the most goals for his FPL team this season, Salah added: "I have to choose myself."
