Mohamed Salah says he will captain himself for every single Gameweek during the Fantasy Premier League season

The 31-year-old Egyptian forward will go down in FPL history for his point-scoring ability, but the 2022/23 season was a relatively disappointing one by his high standards.

Salah eventually finished 33 points adrift of Manchester City forward Erling Haaland, who recorded a mammoth 239 points after scoring a record-breaking 36 goals in 35 games.

That being said, from Gameweek 30 onwards, the former Fiorentina forward was the top-scoring player after notching seven goals, five assists and 78 points.

Salah was once again the focal point of Jurgen Klopp’s attack, recording 40 shots and 38 shots in the box during that period.

He will no doubt be a threat on Sunday, when Liverpool travel to Stamford Bridge for their Premier League opener against former club Chelsea.

In fact, a total of 27.5 per cent of players believe Salah will produce the goods.

But many more have opted for Brighton's Kaoru Mitoma [39.6%], Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford [50.3%] and Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka [59.9%].

Salah may be an expensive pick but the Egyptian believes he will get the most goals and assists in his FPL side this season, rather than any of the above.

Speaking to the Premier League's social media account, he gave an incredible interview about FPL. Check it out below.

Here's how the conversation played out.

Interviewer: "So your price this season is 12.5 million..."

Salah: "Again? It's too expensive for people to buy me. But I know I get some of the most points every season so it's fine."

Interviewer: "Do you think it's a fair price?"

Salah: "It is, but people won't buy me all the time. "

Interviewer: "Why should fans pick you for their team?"

Advert

Salah: "Because I get the most points almost every season."

Interviewer: "Who are your top three FPL picks for your team?"

Salah: "Myself, Alisson and it's a tricky one between Robbo [Andy Robertson] and Trent [Alexander-Arnold]. I'm not choosing because they play for Liverpool. They're just always in my team."

Interviewer: "Who will get the most goals from your team this season?"

Salah: "I have to choose myself."

Interviewer: "Who would get the most assists."

Salah: "Myself and De Bruyne."

Interviewer: "And who will get the most bonus points from your team?"

Salah: "I can choose myself right? Yeah, I choose myself."

Interviewer: "Do you put yourself in your own team?"

Salah: "I'm captain throughout the whole season!"

Here's how social media reacted to the interview.

One fan said: "Everyone needs to have this much confidence in themselves. And now I’m about to go put Salah in my team," while another commented: "Get ready to tear up those teams to fit him in. Don't say I didn't tell you."

A third wrote: "I hate that this video made me reshuffle my whole team just to bring him in."

A fourth added: "You’d be stupid to not have him in your team. He always score in GW1 and it’s Chelsea, he will score."
