Jose Mourinho 'return' to the Premier League takes fresh twist as ex-Man Utd man linked with mid-season move

Jose Mourinho 'return' to the Premier League takes fresh twist as ex-Man Utd man linked with mid-season move

The Special One could make a shock return to England.

Jose Mourinho could make a shock return to the Premier League this season as a source close to the Fenerbahce manager reveals new information.

Mourinho only joined Fenerbahce in June after being sacked by Roma last season.

The Portuguese manager has got off to a respectable start in Turkey with five wins, one draw and one loss in his first seven Super Lig matches, however, his side only sits fourth in the table.

On his arrival to Turkey Mourinho stated, 'I am now one of you' to the Fenerbahce supporters. However, the 'Special One' could be set for a shock exit from the Turkish giants.

According to Football Insider, Mourinho has emerged as a top target for Everton once The Friedkin Group completes their takeover of the club from Farhad Moshiri.

Sean Dyche is reportedly not deemed a long-term manager by the Friedkin's, and with the 53-year-old's contract up at the end of the season, change could be imminent.

Mourinho has a history with the Friedkin family due to their ownership of Roma, and it is understood there is no bad blood between the two parties despite Mourinho's exit from the club earlier this year.

However, Everton fans might not want to get their hopes too high as according to former Man United, Tottenham, and Sunderland scout Mick Brown, the move is unlikely.

“I could see them wanting to bring him in,” he told Football Insider.

“But I’ve heard he wouldn’t be so keen. Would he want to take over at Everton?

“Given his status in Turkey and the comfort zone he is in there, would he want to come back to a struggling and unstable side in England?" He added.

Brown wasn't totally dismissive of the idea, as he stressed Mourinho's unique personality and desire for new challenges could work in Everton's favour.

“Knowing him, maybe he would take that chance, but I’ve heard it’s unlikely," he added.

Everton are set to move away from Goodison Park at the end of the season, with work on their brand new 50,000+ seater stadium at Bramley Moore Dock almost complete.
