Fans reckon they have witnessed the 'biggest fumble' in Premier League history after watching Liverpool's game against Brighton.

Premier League champions Liverpool suffered a 3-2 defeat to Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Monday.

Harvey Elliott opened the scoring after some brilliant play from Conor Bradley before his goal was cancelled out by Yasin Ayari. Dominik Szoboszlai put his side back in the lead, with Kaoru Mitoma levelling proceedings before Jack Hinshelwood grabbed Brighton's winner.

Mohamed Salah failed to score or assist as he aims to break Thierry Henry's long-standing Premier League record.

Arsenal legend Henry is the only player to score 20+ goals and 20+ assists in a single Premier League campaign, having scored 24 goals and registered 20 assists in the 2002/03 season.

Henry's 20 assists is also a Premier League record, with Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne equalling the number in the 2019/20 season.

Salah has scored 28 league goals and has 18 assists to his name this season.

He reached the 18 mark a few months back but has yet to break Henry's record when he looked destined to.

The 32-year-old's form has dipped by his high standards as fans claim he has 'fumbled' the Premier League assist record.

One X user wrote: "That Thierry Henry assists record is cursed, I ain't even joking. Salah used to have GA every match week and since February things turned around."

A second said: "Has Salah broken Henry’s record? The last time I checked, he had 7weeks to get just 2 more assists to equal Henry’s record."

A third commented: "Salah might genuinely fumble both the Premier League assist record and the European Golden Shoe man."

A fourth added: "This assist record is the biggest bottle I’ve ever seen by Salah. Needed 3 in 15 games but second half of the season Salah is always sh*te."

Salah has just one league game remaining to break the Frenchman's record.

Two assists against Crystal Palace on the final day of the season will see him join Henry and De Bruyne on 20, but he needs three assists to be the outright assist Premier League king.

The Egyptian is also one goal contribution (46) away from the joint all-time record (47) for goals and assists in a single Premier League season.
