Chelsea and England star Cole Palmer has revealed what he did after receiving his medals from Manchester City’s 2022/23 treble-winning campaign.

Palmer, 22, was a bit part member of Pep Guardiola’s Man City squad during the historic season in which City secured the FA Cup, Premier League and their first-ever Champions League triumph in Istanbul, Turkey.

Now, Palmer is arguably one of the best players in the league, having secured the coveted PFA Young Player of the Year award following an excellent first season at Chelsea.

This season, the Manchester-born player’s form has continued, having already registered seven goals, four of which came in the first half of a 4-2 win against Brighton in September, and five assists in just 11 league appearances.

He has now revealed exactly what he did with his medals from his final season at the Etihad.

“I give them [the medals] to my mum,” he told GQ.

“I wanted to restock,” he added.

“Clear them out so I can stock up again.”

Although he did keep his Chelsea Player of the Year award from the 2023/24 season and the PFA award from last season, the rest of the space is vacant in case he gets his hands on more silverware at the West London outfit.

Palmer has also tasted success on the international stage, playing a part in the European Under-21 Championship triumph under the guidance of now-interim England boss Lee Carsley.

But for the attacking midfielder, it has not been totally plain sailing.

Palmer was a second-half substitute during England’s 2-1 defeat against Spain in the Euro 2024 final.

He was introduced by Gareth Southgate on the 70-minute mark and just three minutes later stroked Jude Bellingham’s tidy layoff past Unai Simon in the Spanish net.

But Spain scored on 86 minutes, leaving England and Palmer’s dreams in tatters.

However, this will no doubt motivate him to go one better next time he is at an international tournament with the Three Lions.

“The feeling you get when you win… you just want it again,” Palmer explained.

“You don’t want to stop and never get that feeling again.”

His yearbook entry also summed up his mentality from a young age.

So far, during his time at Stamford Bridge, he has yet to lift a trophy despite reaching the Carabao Cup final and FA Cup semi-final last term.
