Enzo Fernandez's highlights against Luton are causing a stir online, fans are "speechless"

Fans are speechless.

Chelsea got their first win of the new Premier League season with a 3-0 victory against Luton Town on Friday evening, and fans couldn't believe how good Enzo Fernandez was.

Chelsea's campaign did not get to the best of starts despite another summer of heavy spending.

Todd Boehly has already spent nearly £350million this summer, taking his total outlay since buying Chelsea last year to almost £1billion.

That hasn't immediately translated into success on the pitch though, with Mauricio Pochettino's tenure in charge beginning with a 1-1 draw with Liverpool and a 3-1 defeat to West Ham.

Things looked a lot better on Friday though as Chelsea brushed aside newly promoted Luton at Stamford Bridge.

Raheem Sterling looked back to his best when he cut in off the right flank, skipped past a couple of defenders and rifled into the bottom corner to open the scoring.

The former Manchester City star doubled the lead in the second half when he swept home a Malo Gusto cross, before he turned provider to set up Nicolas Jackson to score his first goal for the club.

The duo took the headlines, but Fernandez had arguably one of his best games in a Chelsea shirt. He was so good that a highlights reel captioned "My word, I’m actually speechless" is now doing the rounds on X, the social media platform formally known as Twitter.

The Argentine midfielder looked composed and classy on the ball, always looking to progress the play forward and feed the likes of Sterling and Jackson.

The 22-year-old completed 60 of his 64 passes (94%) and created two chances. On the other side of the ball, he made seven recoveries.

Fernandez was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet himself with two of his four shots hitting the woodwork.

Chelsea parted with £106.8m to sign Fernandez from Benfica in January, and for a while he didn't look worth the money at all.

Patience is a virtue though, and Chelsea fans are now seeing exactly why the club brought him in.

Fernandez will look to keep up his run of good form when Chelsea host Nottingham Forest in SW6 next weekend.
