Donald Trump has regularly used the presidential pardon since returning to office at the start of the year, with a former Premier League boss now among the recipients.
The presidential pardon is one of the key powers granted to the US President under the American Constitution.
It allows the president to 'reprieve and pardon' individuals for all federal criminal offences, except in cases of impeachment, effectively wiping the legal punishment for a crime.
Trump has used this power to pardon several prominent figures during his first year in office, including rapper NBA YoungBoy and former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich.

Another high-profile individual set to be pardoned is former Tottenham Hotspur owner Joe Lewis.
The 88-year-old British billionaire was the majority owner of Spurs from 1991 until 2022.
Last year, Lewis was fined $5 million (£3.8m) and given three years of probation by a New York judge after pleading guilty to insider trading and conspiracy charges.

However, he avoided prison time, and it has now emerged that President Trump is expected to grant Lewis a pardon.
A source close to the Lewis family told The Guardian: “Joe and the Lewis family are extremely grateful for this pardon and would like to thank President Trump for taking this action.
“Over his long business career, Joe has been a visionary, creating businesses across the world, which multiple generations of his family are now taking forward.
"There is so much more to the Joe Lewis story than this one event.”
Which celebrities have been pardoned?
NBA YoungBoy, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden, was pardoned in May.
He had originally been sentenced to just under two years in prison on gun-related charges before Trump issued the pardon.

Rod Blagojevich served eight years behind bars for corruption charges before Trump commuted his sentence during his first term in office.
In May, Trump issued a full pardon to the former Democratic governor of Illinois.
During the same month, Trump also pardoned reality television couple Julie and Todd Chrisley.
The duo had been found guilty in 2022 of tax evasion and defrauding banks out of more than $36 million (£26.6 million) in loans.
The founder of Silk Road, Ross Ulbricht, was also pardoned earlier this year.
He had been convicted in 2015 of involvement in a narcotics and money-laundering conspiracy.
On Trump's last day in office during his first term, he issued pardons to more than 140 people.
They included rap stars Lil Wayne and Kodak Black, although many were surprised that he did not pardon Joe Exotic from the popular series Tiger King.
