Premier League Side Considering Surprise Move For Patrick Bamford As He Enters Last 12 Months Of Leeds Contract

A good move?

Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford is being linked with a surprise move to Tottenham as he enters the final year of his contract, although he could be on the verge of signing a new long-term deal at Elland Road.

The 27-year-old, who scored 17 Premier League goals last season - the second highest-scoring English player behind Harry Kane - enjoyed an exceptional 2020/21 campaign under Marcelo Bielsa.

And clearly his contribution to Leeds' impressive ninth place finish in the top-flight has impressed Spurs, who have expressed an interest in the former Chelsea and Middlesbrough man.

With the future of Harry Kane still in the balance, Nuno Espirito Santo's side are keeping a close eye on the situation, according to The Telegraph.

That being said, Leeds are keen to tie Bamford down to a long-term deal. In fact, the striker is already in talks with the Yorkshire club about extending his stay, say reports.

One thing is for sure; Bamford appears happy at Elland Road and in an interview ahead of his fourth season at the club, he waxed lyrically about life at Leeds.

“The only club I’ve been at longer was Chelsea but I was always on loan and stuff there,” he told The Yorkshire Evening Post in July.

“I think this time round is probably the most settled I’ve been. I love living in the area, I love the club, it’s like a family in football. I can’t speak highly enough of how everything has gone.

"It couldn’t have gone any better. I had a little bit of a sticky start with the injury but since then it’s all been uphill.”

Bamford, who was unlucky to miss out on Gareth Southgate's plans at the European Championships this summer, failed to find the net against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday.

But he will no doubt become a pivotal member of Leeds' squad in the coming months if he decides to stay.

Do you think Bamford should stay or should he move elsewhere? Could he be a great replacement for Kane if he does leave North London this summer?
