Paul Pogba Will Sign A New Manchester United Contract Under One Condition

Paul Pogba Will Sign A New Manchester United Contract Under One Condition

The former Juventus midfielder was expected to leave Old Trafford this summer when his contract expired but could now sign a new deal.

Paul Pogba has been expected to leave Manchester United at the end of the season, but according to one report he might be about to change his mind.

Pogba's time back at United has not been the success that he and the club would have hoped when they re-signed him in 2016 for a then world record fee.

With his contract expiring in the summer, and with continued injuries denying United of his services since November, the 28-year-old has been linked with numerous clubs.

PSG are reportedly eyeing the midfielder as their number one target this summer, with sporting director Leonardo having reportedly already spoken to Mino Raiola, whilst Real Madrid and Juventus are also rumoured to be interested.

However, according to the Sun, there is still a chance that Pogba could sign a new deal at Old Trafford, and he's considering a u-turn on his previous stance.

The paper claims that's only if Ralf Rangnick remains as manager after this season, with the interim impressing the player with his plans to make Pogba the fulcrum of the midfield.

Rangnick was appointed at the end of November, following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but only until the end of the season as interim.

The German was also handed an extra two year contract as a consultant and was expected to have some say on who would follow him as manager.

Rangnick admitted early on that his recommendation could be to keep himself on, although Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag have also been strongly linked to the job, with a total shortlist of four managers previously named.

However, if the former RB Leipzig manager holds the key to Pogba staying then it could certainly be one factor that sways the job in his favour.

United have been hoping to get the best out of the former Juventus midfielder for the past six years, with Jose Mourinho and Solskjaer both failing due to numerous factors.

Rangnick, who previously said he wouldn't try to persuade Pogba to stay if he didn't want to, has reportedly managed to convince the player he would make an important part of his midfield.

It is probably the area of the pitch where the team have had the most criticism, with Scott McTominay and Fred often on the receiving end of it.

If Pogba does eventually stay at the club then it could be more bad news for Donny van de Beek, who is expected to be loaned out before the end of January, but who the club still don't want to sell.
