Marcelo did Cristiano Ronaldo’s SIU celebration after scoring for Olympiakos

Marcelo and Cristiano Ronaldo played together at Real Madrid

Marcelo brought out Cristiano Ronaldo’s famous SIU celebration after scoring for Olympiakos on Wednesday night.

During their time spent together at Real Madrid, Marcelo and Ronaldo were an important part of the La Liga giants’ success.

In nine years, they got their hands on multiple trophies including five Champions League titles. Whilst Marcelo also assisted a big amount of Ronaldo’s 450 goals for the Bernabeu club.

When the Brazilian full-back left the club in the summer, Ronaldo was quick to pay tribute to his former teammate.

He wrote on Instagram: “More than a teammate, a brother that football gave me.

“On and off the fields, one of the biggest stars with whom I had the pleasure of sharing a locker room. Go with everything on this new adventure, Marcelo.”

Although they are no longer playing together, it is clear to see that their relationship is still as strong as ever.

On Wednesday night, Marcelo found the back of the net during Olympiakos’ Greek Cup clash with Atromitos.

The 34-year-old then pulled out Ronaldo’s famous SIU celebration. A brilliant celebration to match his wonderfully taken volley.

Olympiakos ended up drawing the game 2-2 but advanced to the next round with a 6-3 aggregate win.

Marcelo endured a tough start to life in Greece, after a string of disappointing performances there were reports that his contract was going to be terminated after just two months.

However, it seems like the former Madrid man has now turned a corner and is beginning to recapture his best football. So far, Marcelo has made a total of 10 appearances for the Greek side, scoring three times.

Fans will not be able to see Marcelo in action on the European stage after Oympiakos' dismal Europa League campaign, they finished rock bottom of their group after managing just two draws.

Ronaldo meanwhile has made a sensational switch to Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr after his time second stint at Manchester United ended bitterly.

Will Ronaldo be a success in the Middle East? Only time will tell.
