Sergio Ramos has set the brains of footballing codebreakers (is that a thing? It's probably a job nowadays, isn't it? People style dogs for a living, so 'footballing codebreaker' must definitely be a profession) working into overdrive after debuting some new ink on his knuckles ahead of Real Madrid's World Club Cup campaign in Tokyo.

The 'Los Blancos' captain has had the numbers 35,90+,32 and 19 tattooed across his knuckles, revealing the ink via his Twitter account, accompanied by the question "The numbers of my life in the purest colour. What do they mean?" :

Now, we tried working it out and came to the conclusion that 35 is the number of pints he necked after scoring that last minute equaliser against Atletico Madrid in the 2014 Champions League final, 90+ is of course a reference to the amount of people who told him his hair looked shite when he dyed it peroxide blonde, 32 is, on average, the number of times each day he's mistaken for Val Kilmer and 19 is how many times a day he rung Jose Mourinho, shouted 'cock' and put the phone down during Mourinho's time as manager at the Bernabeu.

However, despite what we believed to be a stone cold analysis of Ramos' most recent tattoos, it turns out our deciphering skills aren't what they used to be.

In a turn of events none of us saw coming, it turns out 35 and 32 are the first two squad numbers Ramos wore during his time at Sevilla, 90+ was when he found the back of the net in the 2014 'La Decima' Champions League final in Lisbon and 19 is the age he discovered Father Christmas wasn't real. Oh wait, no, sorry, it's the age he made his debut for Spain, which is consequently the same age as when he signed for Real, which it could also be in reference to.

At least, that's what 'experts' are saying the tattoos mean, but let's face it, our explanation behind their origins is just as plausible.
