A lucky punter has scooped more than £31,000 after he placed an incredible 'first goalscorer' bet on the final day of the Premier League season.

X user Jonah made some bold predictions ahead of Sunday afternoon's fixtures.

He placed a £42 stake on Harvey Barnes, Jean-Philippe Mateta, Alexis Mac Allister, Phil Foden, Dejan Kulusevski, Gabriel Martinelli and Simon Adingra to score first in their respective games.

Barnes bagged the opener for Newcastle in their 4-2 win over Brentford, while in-form striker Jean-Philippe Mateta netted an early goal for Crystal Palace before they knocked another four past Aston Villa.

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister also scored the opener in Jurgen Klopp's final game at Anfield and Phil Foden, who was recently named the Premier League's Player of the Season, found the net early on.

Gabriel Martinelli and Simon Adingra failed to score first for Arsenal and Brighton in their fixtures but after Dejan Kulusevski gave Spurs the lead at Bramall Lane. the punter cashed out at £31,589.05.

Here is that bet in full:

Kulusevski, who hadn't scored a league goal for Spurs since their 2-1 defeat to Wolves on February 17, went on to bag a brace as Ange Postecoglou's side secured a 3-0 victory.

The punter explained the bet after someone asked why such a high cash out was offered.

"It was 21, 5 fold bets," he wrote. "£19,700 for the five fold that won when five had scored and I assume the extra was the potential that another of the two could still score."

Here's how fans on social media reacted to the bet.

One said: "That's one of the best bets I've ever seen," while another commented: "Fair play that’s the maddest bet I’ve ever seen."

A third wrote: "£42 on an absolute s*** show of a bet, and it comes in. Unbelievable!"

A fourth commented: "This is insane," while a fifth added: "Kulusevski hasn’t scored in three months man. This is obviously juju."

In others news, another punter scooped more than £10,800 after they predicted every winner of England's top five leagues.

X user Joe Briant put £10 on Chesterfield to win the National League, Stockport County to win League Two, Portsmouth to lift the League One title, Leicester to win the Championship and Manchester City to secure a fourth consecutive Premier League title.
