WATCH: Benjamin Mendy Plays Down Manchester City Move With Brilliant Response

Manchester City fans got very excited earlier today when it appeared as though Monaco left-back Benjamin Mendy was on his way to the club.

Links to the Frenchman have really ramped up in recent times - with talk that a new signing could be announced on Monday.

The fact Mendy was on a plane, coupled with reports for France, meant City fans were putting two and two together.

But just as everything pointed towards Mendy being the next man, and second Monaco player to come through the door at the Etihad, following the £43 million capture of Bernardo Silva on Friday, Mendy issued the following response to reports that he was/is Manchester-bound:

Is he just playing around or is a move not on the cards just yet?

In other City transfer news, the club do appear to be closing in on the signing of Benfica goalkeeper Ederson.

He looks to have played his final game for the club today, after ending the season by lifting the Portuguese Cup in the final today.
