Jamie Vardy Literally Two-Footed The Post After Spurning Chance Against Southampton

He thought he scored the winner and his frustrations were clear to see..

Jamie Vardy is so used to putting the ball in the back of the net that when he doesn't, he tends to lose the plot just a bit.

On more then one occasion, the England international has repeatedly punched himself after missing a chance - even throwing as many as NINE blows at his face after blasting one over the bar against Sevilla last season.

And last night, he introduced a new method when he decided to perform a two-footed tackle on the goalpost.

In the 0-0 draw with Southampton at the King Power Stadium last night, Vardy, captain for the game - thought he'd bagged a second stunning over-the-shoulder volley in a matter of weeks but was denied by a fine save from Alex McCarthy.

Kicking the post in frustration is a common act in football. Two-footing the post? Not so much.

But Vardy was so angry with himself at spurning the big chance from Marc Albrighton's excellent pick-out that he felt obliged to react by lunging in on the woodwork.

The 31-year old has a brilliant tally of 17 goals in the league for the Foxes this season and is currently fourth joint-highest top scorer in the Premier League alongside England colleague Raheem Sterling.

Both Romelu Lukaku and Roberto Firmino have less league goals than him this term, which is rather impressive considering the quality players they have around them.

When asked about his unusual act of going Mike Tyson on himself by the Daily Mail last season, Vardy said it's caused a bit of damage to his lip:

"I used to do it all the time, it's just frustration. It is better to punch myself than somebody else isn't it! I've cut my lip quite a few times."

Whatever works for you, Jamie...
