David Moyes has already surpassed many people's expectations during his short time as manager of West Ham United, with the Scotsman leading the Hammers to impressive results against Chelsea, Arsenal and Stoke City recently and now the former Sunderland and Everton boss is looking to strengthen the Hammers' push away from the relegation zone even further.

With the January transfer window set to open next Monday, many clubs at the wrong end of the Premier League table will be looking to conduct the business that they hope will lead them to safety and it is perhaps Moyes who is eyeing the biggest move of the winter.

Reports have begun to circulate in the last few hours that the Hammers are targeting a loan move for Borussia Dortmund attacker and former Chelsea ace, Andre Schurrle.

Schurrle, a Premier League winner with Chelsea in 2014/15 and a member of Germany's World Cup winning squad of 2014, has fallen out of favour at BVB after just over a season at Signal Iduna Park.

The 27-year-old winger has made only eight appearances for Dortmund this term, having made only 25 during his debut season for BVB, in which he scored five times.

It is now being reported by the Guardian that Moyes will look to offer the Germany international an escape from the Bundesliga and a return to London, where he spent two years with Chelsea between 2013 and 2015.

VfB Stuttgart are also believed to be interested in luring Schurrle away from Dortmund, next month.

Is the German winger the right man to steer West Ham away from the danger zone, though?
