Harry Kane has confirmed in a social media post that he will stay at Tottenham Hotspur for the remainder of the 2021/22 season.

The 28-year-old striker, who has been linked with a big-money move to Manchester City throughout this summer's transfer window, announced the news on his official Twitter account on Wednesday.

"It was incredible to see the reception from the Spurs fans on Sunday and to read some of the messages of support I've had in the last few weeks," he wrote.

"I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100% focused on helping the team achieve success."

Last week, Manchester City had a bid of £125m for the England captain rejected by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

The Premier League champions were set to make a third and final take-it-or-leave-it offer before the window closed, according to the Daily Telegraph, but Kane has now announced that he will remain in North London.

Kane, who made his first Premier League appearance of the season against Wolves on Sunday, was praised by Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo after the full-time whistle.

"He did well, he helped the team," he said. "He is still in the process of improving his fitness. But he is one of the best players in the world. You can see he helped the team in possession.

"I was pleased with the attitude of the fans," he added. "We have to be together. We have amazing fans and have to be thankful for that."
