Olivier Giroud Set For Shock £20m Premier League Move?

The Frenchman may be on his way out of the Emirates Stadium

He may look like he wandered straight off a L'Oreal advert and have a penchant for scoring scorpion kicks (OK, he did it once, but still) but Olivier Giroud may now be surplus to requirements at Arsenal.

Rumours have heated up over the last few days claiming that Lyon goal machine Alexandre Lacazette could be on his way to the Emirates stadium for a reported £60 million and with one prolific Frenchman potentially making his way to North London, a less prolific one may have to make way.

Fortunately for both Giroud and Arsenal, the former Montpellier man isn't short of suitors, although he may have to settle for a club with slightly lower ambitions than his current employers.

Goal understands that West Ham are ready to make an offer for the French international, who has won three FA Cups since joining the Gunners, in 2012.

Giroud has apparently grown frustrated at his lack of opportunities during his last 12 months with Arsenal, playing a full 90 minutes only four times in the Premier League, last season. He did still manage to find the net 12 times, despite his relative lack of game time, however.

The Hammers are prepared to match Arsenal's £20 million asking price for Giroud and will offer him a four year, £100,000-per-week contract.

The 30-year-old striker has proven to be a divisive figure since he arrived from Montpellier five years ago, never seemingly doing quite enough to win over the Gunners support en masse and instead often leaving fans frustrated with his inconsistent form.

In five seasons with the North London club, Giroud has turned out 226 times for Arsene Wenger's team, scoring 98 goals.

Giroud's most lethal season in front of goal for the Gunners came in 2015/16, when he scored 24 goals in 53 appearances.

It is believed Giroud favours a permanent move away from the Emirates stadium and wishes to remain in London, meaning a switch to the Hammers would be ideal.

Arsenal and West Ham fans, what are your thoughts on a potentially imminent deal for Giroud?
