With all the money being spent by Manchester City on bolstering Pep Guardiola's squad ahead of the imminent new season, it's easy to forget there's a few players still on the books at the Etihad stadium who are surplus to demands.

Despite impressing during Saturday night's 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in Nashville, Samir Nasri is believed to be on borrowed time at Eastlands, having spent last season on loan at Drip Doc.... erm, Sevilla.

Nasri, however, remains a City player. For the time being, at least. Brazilian midfielder Fernando, on the other hand, appears to be en route to a new club, if his Instagram activity is anything to go by.

The former Porto man made just 15 Premier League appearances under Guardiola last term and, with Ilkay Gundogan closing in on a return to fitness after a lengthy lay off with torn cruciate ligaments and Yaya Toure signing a new contract, it looks as if the 30-year-old will find opportunities even harder to come by during 2017/18.

Instead, Fernando isn't hanging round to warm a bench for the next nine months. Instead, the midfielder is making his way to Galatasaray, with the Turkish team looking to strengthen their midfield, having tried and failed with an approach for Manchester United's Marouane Fellaini.

Speaking to Diario de Noticias in Portugal, Fernando said, "My first goal is to go out and play. It's not worth staying at Manchester City and not being used.

"I want to play and I already told the club. Let's wait, the club is waiting for a good proposal."

And now it would appear that a good proposal has come along, with Fernando posting a picture of himself and his son at an airport with the caption 'Together for the new challenge'.

In his interview with Diario, Fernando would go onto reveal how much City valued his services at, saying, "Between seven and eight million euros. The club that offered money for my rights was Galatasaray.

"City want to sell me, but what's good for the club might not be good for me. It's no use to only be good for one part, hence the difficulty in solving this subject. By August 31st, anything can happen."

Fernando made 101 appearances for City after arriving at Eastlands in 2014, scoring four goals and lifting the 2016 League Cup.
