It's only January, but Fabio Martins has already put down a marker for this year's Puskas Award with an outrageous finish in Saudi Arabia.

Martins' inventive and acrobatic goal for Al Shabab FC is genuinely one of the best you'll see this year and will take some beating in 2021.

The Portuguese winger, who had trials at Coventry City, started the attack after brilliantly rolling an opposition player on the half way line.

He carried the ball with intent, picking out his teammate who returned the ball back to him in a flowing sequence.

Martins then smashed home from inside the box in a moment of magic that looks even better on replay.

He struck the ball with his heel while in the air, achieving incredible connection to find the back of the net.

A superb goal and a legitimate Puskas Award contender just 20 days into the new year.

Needless to say, his insane finish got fans taking online.

One Twitter user wrote: "The balls to even try this while chasing an equaliser."

A second tweeted: "How did he think of doing that in a split second?!"

A third added: "If this was Neymar this would be all over the TL."

The game which ended 1-1 will be remembered for Martins' strike.
